My horological journey began not in a boardroom, but amidst the vibrant jewelry and watch stores of my home, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. It was there that a lifelong passion for fine timepieces took root. For over 13 years, I've had the privilege of immersing myself in the global luxury watch industry, working alongside industry leaders across the Caribbean, Southeast Alaska, the Middle East, and beyond.
From managing prestigious boutiques like Little Switzerland and Princess World Jewelers to spearheading the Middle East expansion for The 1916 Company (formerly WatchBox), my experience spans both the primary and secondary markets. I've gained deep insights into the nuances of watchmaking, watch valuation, luxury watch authentication, and strategic collection building. I've seen firsthand what it takes to curate a truly significant collection – and what it takes to protect it.
Through my years in the industry, I recognized a critical need: collectors deserved an independent, unbiased advisor – a true partner who shared their passion without the constraints of sales targets or brand affiliations. This conviction, coupled with my belief in the "circle of passion" – the shared dedication of the watchmaker, the advisor, and the collector – inspired me to found Gottlieb & Co.
